Rock…Paper…Turtle…Art for Wetlands

About the Exhibit
Rock…Paper…Turtle…Art for Wetlands is an event created by Jan Rimerman & Dave Haslett to promote awareness of native turtles & their vanishing environments.  This is the fourth year of the project where art has been exhibited and 25% of the proceeds have been given to The Wetlands Conservancy.  The target is to restore the Nyberg Wetlands to promote the return of the Western Pond Turtle.  Invasive plants and animals have been removed, logs for basking have been placed and native plants reintroduced to entice the vanishing native species back.  To date there are five Western Pond Turtles that have returned and are residing in their native wetland.

The art exhibition this year  includes Debby Neely’s woodcut prints, Candace Wilson’s ceramics, Jim Wylder’s naked raku, Dave Haslett’s stone sculpture & Jan Rimerman’s book illustrations in colored pencil.  All of the art work is nature oriented.

Turtle Tales – Turtle Folklore & Global Stories by Jan Rimerman
This new self-published book will be released at this event. The artwork in this book is paired with global turtle stories & facts.  The stories & dialogue are as authentic as possible while the drawings are fictitious. Life lessons are revealed through the turtle folklore which has been passed down through the generations.  Other pages present the hard facts about the current turtle population & their habitat today.
The books are $35 and can be personally inscribed for you.

The artists will speak about their work and you may purchase the artwork during the live event.  Click here to register for the Zoom reception.
